Last Thursday Axel Brunger informed the scientific community about the sad news that Warren DeLano, author of PyMOL and founder of DeLano Scientific LLC had died.

Warren DeLano
Warren's stated goal was "to create and share powerful software technologies that accelerate understaing and speed transfer of knowledge." He "...pursue[d] this objective through a variety of means, leveraging both open-source and commercial methods, with partners and confederates spread around the globe."
Warren had come very close, and as a result many of us owe him our ability to effectively communicate three dimensional protein structures that are invisible to the human experience. This list with journal covers displaying PyMOL-created visualizations of protein molecules demonstrates the impact that Warren has made on the community of structural biologists.
In Memory of Warren DeLano.
Please join me in extending our condolences to Warren's family.
