CrystalCardsTM are the heart of the MPCS: they facilitate the formation of ca. 10 nL plugs and store them inside a microcapillary. CrystalCards are made of a transparent and low birefringent plastic material that allows simple transport and inspection. 4 CrystalCards can be stored within one frame, the size of a conventional crystallization tray. Such a tray may hold up to 3,200 individual crystallization experiments.

The Peel-Apart feature of the CrystalCard allows simple extraction of Diffraction-Ready crystals:
